DJ screen and truss DJ Product Review

The DJ screen goes a long (and wide) way
Let’s get back to the fun parts of being a DJ for a moment. We’ve talked lighting, fog, flame machines even, so let’s not wait anymore for a DJ screen talk. If you’re either a VJ or a working DJ trying to get a little more life into his gigs, the DJ screen is the piece of DJ equipment to do that for you. This new DJ screen model from DJ screen.com (intuitive enough for you?) breaks the regular barriers in the way of working DJ carrying and constantly using their own DJ screens. Usually DJ screens would be fixed or even improvised from empty walls and you wouldn’t dream of taking it home along with your other DJ equipment, but that’s exactly what this DJ screen allows.
The DJ screen plus truss is a new model that aims at bringing DJ screens into the portability world for working DJ and VJs all around. Have it, carry it, use it, take it down and take it back home, all done easily and quickly with the DJ screen. This particular piece of DJ equipment also has to be rugged enough to resist constant wear and tear, setting up and taking down, as it could become a mobile DJ’s best friend. The DJ screen takes care of this right from construction, where spandex is used not only because a working DJ can create some interesting effects with it, but also because it supports the rigors of a mobile DJ’s life.
All put together, working DJs will be happy to find out that the DJ screen is an amazing one-size-fits-all, so you can pretty much pull until you reach your desired dimensions. There are some limits to how much you can pull, but those are going up from 7 ft wide x 5 ft high, which is the standard unstretched size of the DJ screen. If you want your DJ screen to give the rock-concert impression and to create some interesting designs by stretching on different parts of it, you’re also free to "abuse" the DJ screen to your liking, all the way up to 11 ft wide x 8.5 ft high. Of course, one you start stretching past the 7 x 5 size, your screen will get a different look and it won’t be a rectangle anymore, so that’s where the fun begins.

I’m starting to get curious already about the DJ screen so let’s see what else can a working DJ expect from it:
- the DJ screen is a one size fits all starting at the 7 x 5 ft (H x W) size unstretched and stretching in the range of 8 to 11 ft high and 6 to 8.5 ft wide
- includes its ready made truss which you can use for projection and support, but the DJ screen can be attached to any DJ equipment or trusses around
- projections are possible both on the front and on the back…to think about it, the DJ screen has no front and back…
- weather resistant, so it’s usable outdoors as well as inside, and also treated with Guard X flame retardant in case a cigarette makes its way too close to your DJ screen
- installation is nice and easy, takes less than 5 minutes (timed) and is made with standard bungee cords
- ahh, the nice part: basically no maintenance required. No ironing, rolling or folding to worry about and better yet, it’s both machine washable and dry cleaning compatible
- another nice part: the DJ screen comes packed with its own carry bag and straps, so transportation is piece of cake
So besides offering working DJs and VJs the ability to tap into their imagination and pull out any screen design, shape or size by attaching as many of the anchor points they want and stretch it to their liking, the DJ screen includes the needed trusses, is portable, easily installed and made to last through any conditions, from bad weather to a mobile DJ’s life. Knowing that, I’d say the DJ screen will become an instant working DJ friend and it will quickly make its way into the DJ equipment bag, and who knows, it might even be your favorite DJ product when you see how easy it is to work with the DJ screen.
Before long, I wouldn’t be surprised seeing DJ screens left and right, completing the DJ gig with some nice visuals. At any rate, visit the DJ screen site for more information and a gallery to see what the DJ screen can do, and also, give us whatever feedback you have on it, we’d like to hear what you have to say.
