PCDJ UDJ-1 USB Headphone Product Review

Forget expensive soundcards. Get the UDJ-1

For working DJs, a headphone is like another part of the body. Maybe not as vital as the heart, but still important. For that reason, and I can name many more (but don’t wanna), DJs have been okay with shelling out a lot of money for the perfect pair. Knowing that a headphone with safety, great sound and ease of use is essential, they turn to the best (and not to mention most expensive) DJ suppliers on the planet. Well, PCDJ says "forget expensive" with the design of their UDJ-1 USB headphone. On the surface, it’s nothing special, right? Good price and all, but it’s blatantly evident that Ultrasone and Sennheiser create better headphones. But hold on a minute: PCDJ’s UDJ-1 is not only inexpensive, it’s coupled with elite PCDJ software.

Of course I love PCDJ. You don’t have to be a working DJ to appreciate their equipment. If you love karaoke, I think you’ll love PCDJ’s KJ Pro.

But back to the good stuff: the PCDJ UDJ-1. This unique combination of DJ headphone/DJ software is said to give working DJs everything they need to DeeJay from their very own computer. Better yet, PCDJ incorporated technology for high quality sound right into these USB headphones, thus eliminating the need for working DJs to drop extra cash on a sound card. With the included PCDJ software, DJs can do all of the following in one simple piece of equipment:

• Cue
• Play
• Mix
• Ripp

Did I mention that it’s easy to use? Of course no one expected it to be brain surgery, but all you have to do is install the PCDJ software and plug the UDJ-1 headphones into your USB port and you’re ready to go in–literally–minutes. Oh the beauty of technology…
