ATB DJ Review

Not a one-style DJ

The world knows DJs. Does the world love and adore DJs? Maybe not. But there are a few disc jockeys that are so multi talented, you’re bound to find something to love about them. ATB is one of the DJs I’m talking about, and the "trance world" not only knows, but worships him. "ATB" may be the name working DJs/DJ fans commonly recognize him by, but the name he was born with is Andre Tanneberger. Less appealing than ATB, but still pretty cool. Tanneberger started ff modestly; in a dance and music group that he was, well, too good for. That may sound a little harsh, but it’s true. Tanneberger is said to have been the brains of the group, and while the other members may have been okay, they were keeping Tanneberger down. Keeping him from being ATB.

Tanneberger knew what everyone else now knows: his group was bringing him down, so he broke off and created his own thing called ATB. In the late nineties, around the time Andre Tanneberger went off into the solo word, he released his first track, "9 PM", which exploded in the music charts and is said to be the UK’s very first number one trance hit. In his first album, he created a style unlike any other musician/DJ, with a crazy guitar sound unheard of until then. Listen to the guitar in the official music video for 9 PM. He owned that style back in the nineties, but he didn’t keep it for very long. ATB is known as a professional DJ who always mixes up his music and his sound. Through out the years, leading to present day, Tanneberger has proved that he rarely plays the same style twice.

ATB (Andre Tanneberger)

ATB

ATB can be found playing at the hottest clubs and, of course, touring around the world. Like most DJs, his touring changed him for the better, exposing him to new sounds music, some of which, he incorporated into his tracks. Over the years, his style has changed. No surprise there. That’s a common occurrence when you get older. Personally, I think his style has become more refined, and his fans will definitely agree. Although his heart belongs to electronic music, DJ ATB understands that there are other genres out there, some that are even better than the genre he specializes in. Knowing this, ATB has tapped into a number of genres, including the unlikely pop music. But he won’t become your typical DJ sell out. Remember, trance is not only in his heart, it is his heart.

A lot of the reasons why his tracks reach international fame is largely because of all the support he gets from fellow working DJs, and all the collaborations he whips up. Among the many pros ATB has worked with is:

  •  Jennifer Karr
  • Jan Loechel
  • Jeppe Riddervold
  • Karen Ires

You can always see him on tour, but if that’s impossible, check out Andre Tanneberger on his official web site.
