Numark NSFX Product Review

NS7 Has Found its Soul Mate

If you’re a working DJ who currently owns an NS7 DJ controller (refresh your memory about the NS7) from Numark, you know it works like a digital masterpiece. Of course, you may have your minor problems with the NS7, and even a few big ones (such as the size/weight you’re required to lug from gig to gig). But, overall, it works beautifully. If you could get more out of your DJ controller, would you ask for it? If you answered "yes", then good news. Numark and Serato came together again to create an effects controller called the NSFX. Its was designed to give the working DJ more out of their NS7 controller and Serato Itch software.

Think of the NSFX as a key to a treasure. That’s what I did when I realized this stylish effects controller could "unlock" Serato Itch’s effects capabilities on your NS7. Serato and Numark basically created it to work flawlessly with Serato Itch’s system so that it can "mate perfectly with the NS7", according to Numark. So, if you don’t consider the NSFX to be a key, you can definitely consider it to be the NS7′s soul mate. Either way, working DJs get the same incredible outcome: seamless integration and hands on control of the wide range of effects Serato built into Itch.

Another thing you’ll love about the NSFX is its aesthetics. You can’t say much about it beauty-wise, but at least it’s not bulky, and the black polish adds to its desirability…sort of. But, even better, is when you plug it in and the light-up controls that indicate every control’s setting and/or visual feedback in any lighting environment. Emphasis on any lighting environment.

Remember how I said it works flawlessly with Serato? I’m sure a number of working DJs do not believe me, as this is a pretty serious claim. Here’s how I’ll back it up: According to Numark, the NSFX was designed to be compatible with the latest version of Itch. It’s so easy that all you have to do is plug the integrated USB cable in to activate. There’s nothing more flawless than pluggin’ and playin’.

Check out the features of the NSFX:

  • Chain multiple effects to a single source
  • Route effects to either deck or to the Aux or Main outputs
  • Designed in collaboration with Serato for seamless compatibility with the latest version of ITCH
  • Light-up controls make it easy to keep tabs on effects status
  • Plug-and-play USB supplies power and works without installing drivers
  • Conveniently mounts on NS7′s integrated laptop stand
  • Fits in NS7 CASE for protection in transit to the gig
  • Activate and control the effects in Serato ITCH with NS7

The bottom line is this: Numark’s NS7 is great, but you can only do so much with it. You can do just about anything with the NS7-NSFX. If you like video aids, then you might like this here.
