DJ Z-Trip takes over Rain’s Friday nights

Following DJ AM’s death, DJ Z-Trip takes over at Rain of Fridays
Any Las Vegas clubgoer and music fan knows what you can expect on Saturdays. Paul Oakenfold mixing steadily from behind the decks, keeping a crowd of thousands entertained each and every week. But the Rain nightclub, where it all happens, has to keep the other nights just as high-life as their Saturdays if they want to keep their name up as a legendary nightclub and a definite shine spot on the U.S.’ nightlife map. Before long ago, DJ AM was the main resident for Rain’s Friday nights, and with good reason, if you know the man’s DJ-ing skills.
However, as you probably know by now, Adam Goldstein met with an untimely death that left everybody he knew surprised and shocked, and his fans wanting for a new DJ favorite. But the scene is high and wide, and new working DJs are always on the lookout for great residencies. Rain before Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto show on Saturday is pretty much as big as these residencies come, so the competition was probably fierce, not to mention the shoes the contender had to fill were those of a DJ AM on the roll.
So who better to pick for such a great task than America’s Best DJ, the official winner of the title for 2009? That’s right, DJ Z-Trip is now officially your host and DJ for Friday nights at the Rain nightclub, following DJ AM. If you’ve read WorkingDJ.com, you’ll know he won the America’s Best DJ award for 2009 ahead of such legendary working DJs as DJ Qbert or Kaskade, and DJ Z-Trip is considered one of the best live DJ performances in history, by both fans and other DJs.
DJ Z-Trip, born Zach Saiacca in Los Angeles, partnered with the group behind Rain, N9Ne entertainment for the residency on Fridays, and he’s set to perform his DJ Revolution show, a party for the people, starting October 16th, before Paul Oakenfold does his Perfecto show on Saturdays. Most electronic music fans might know DJ Z-Trip as the "godfather of mash-ups", one of the original creators of the genre, obviously because of the way he tries and successfully brings different types of music and tracks into his mix and puts a whole new thing together from otherwise unrelated genres.

While most DJs would be proud to have such a title, DJ Z-Trip is rather sad he’s ended up being called a mash-up DJ just because of the way he puts his mix together. He considers the incorporation of rock or other styles into his mix just a flavor of the type of DJ he is, while thinking of himself more as a well rounded DJ rather than being just into a category, no matter the fact that he started it really.
As far as the Revolution show for the Rain nightclub is concerned, fans can expect anything except the ordinary from DJ Z-Trip. As Michael Fuller, the vice president of the N9Ne Group told the press about DJ Z-Trip’s show: "Our format is production and talent and to go above and beyond every time we’re doing something like this,… [Z-Trip] has a bunch of surprises musically that he’s not even telling me,” says Fuller. “He says that he’s coming in two or three days earlier, locking himself in a room and just practicing for those three days. He is a meticulous perfectionist and I am positive that night whatever he does is going to be legendary.".
So although DJ AM was a great working DJ and well worth his residency at Rain, N9Ne Group is pretty sure they made the right decision for a replacement DJ, and Z-Trip is set to bring the crowds on fire with his Revolution show, every Friday at Rain. As always, although he’s planned 30 nights for the next year, when Z-Trip isn’t going to be behind the decks, you can expect other famous DJs to fill in, so Fridays will be anything but boring in Vegas.
