The Sony MDR-V700DJ DJ headphones are ready for a spin
Let’s get back into the realm of DJ headphones, one of my favorite areas of all, as the DJ product review today has a very exquisite and special target: the MDR-V700DJ model of DJ headphones from Sony, a specifically designed pair of cans for working DJ, which they’ll find great pleasure in using, no doubt.
As far as DJ headphones are concerned, you may not count Sony as a contender, mostly because they haven’t released too many models in this area. Besides the MDR-V500, of which you can read a DJ equipment review here, the MDR-V700DJ are the only other serious DJ headphones model, but once you get them, you’ll see why Sony doesn’t really need any further releases to keep the working DJs happy.
First of all, with the MDR-V700DJ, when Sony says DJ they mean DJ to every extent of the DJ headphones. This model is by definition much clearer, more sensitive sound output and provides very high fidelity compared to Sony’s consumer headphones, for instance, or even other DJ headphones, for that matter.

High quality materials were used for the MDR-V700DJ DJ headphones so that they’ll not only produce one of the best, clearest sounds a working DJ’s ever heard, but they’ll also be light and adaptable to night long use, just the way the DJ likes it. Neodymium magnets for maximum energy at minimum size, gold plated plugs for corrossion resistance, high conductivity and low noise, oxygen free copper cord for great conductivity and low noise, and a silver finish for just sleek looks, they’ve all been used on the MDR-V700DJ.
As far as technical specifications are concerned, the MDR-V700DJ doesn’t lag behind with all that careful construction, so feast your eyes on these:
- power handling capacity of up to 3000 mW
- the ear cups are up for anything, they can swivel, are reversible for single ear monitoring and also have a convenient auto return mechanism
- 50 mm driver unit
- wide frequency response from 5 Hz to 30 kHz
- impedance of 24 ohms
- a high sensitivity of 107 dB/mW
- over the head, DJ style design with wide adjustable headband that won’t tire you even after long hours
I’m running out of space with just a pair of DJ headphones with the MDR-V700DJ model, which is unusual, but the entire description can be found on the Sony Style website. As a final word, once you decide on the MDR-V700DJ model for any monitoring, remixing, beatmatching DJ application, you won’t be disappointed, no matter what your level is.
