Get your chance at exposure by remixing Funkagenda’s Afterclub track on Toolroom Records

Finally, time to announce another DJ contest where working DJs can put their skills to the test and pit them against others for a chance at exposure and, of course, some interesting prizes along the way, if you’re the best remixer to come around. Although DJ contests abound sometimes, I personally enjoy those which target the DJs rather than those that target anybody. First, the prizes are usually worth a working DJ’s time and will hopefully make his life as a musician a little bit easier, second, they do require some skill at DJ-ing to get in, and not just the ability to click on a mouse, and third, a challenge should always come along in a working DJ’s life, to keep him on his toes and his mix hot. So it’s great that Funkagenda combined with Toolroom Records to bring you a chance to remix for some prizes and exposure.

If you’re a working DJ who’s keeping up to date with the latest news in the music world, you may know of the recent collaboration between Funkagenda and Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records, where Funkagenda released their latest compilation on Juno download. While you could get the compilation in itself, I highly suggest you go and download the full package, including:

• 36 full length tracks
• 2 full length DJ mixes
• and the remix parts bundle to help you create your own mix

Once you do that, you’re practically one remix away from entering the Funkagenda remix DJ contest on Toolroom Knights. Of course, this remix DJ contest is targeted on just their Afterclub piece, but besides that, you can use the remix parts bundle to your heart’s desire, with no limitations as far as genre or style are concerned. You’ve got total freedom to make the best sounding remix from the Afterclub remix parts bundle in the package, and the just upload to Soundcloud to be considered for the Funkagenda remix DJ contest.

Another important point is that when you upload your remix on Soundcloud, you should uncheck the download box and leave your remix uploaded only as stream only. Other than that, the download Afterclub remix parts bundle along with the full package are available starting 26th of October, and the deadline for uploading your remix is the 30th of November. You’re at freedom to use the remix parts bundle as you see fit, but of course you have to have clearance from copyright owners of any other parts you use in the remix.

And now that the conditions are done with, let’s get the working DJ’s mind rolling and put a little motivation behind the download. Here are the prizes, besides having your remix released on Toolroom Records, along with Funkagenda’s original piece:

• 1st prize gets an Ableton Live 8 DAW, 50 pounds Juno digital voucher, a max account for one year at Soundcloud, the signed album from Funkagenda,and finally a Toolroom T-shirt and CD wallet
• 2nd and 3rd prizes get each a 25 pounds Juno digital voucher, a light account at Soundcloud for one year, and the signed album from Funkagenda
