The Cross pack from Mixvibes offers a DJ software and audio interface pack with the lowest latency on the market
Digital DJs should already know about Mixvibes by now, especially if you’re the kind of guy who always wanted to spin vinyl but still do it digitally. There are now a good number of DJ equipment reviews of DJ products that allow that, but Mixvibes came out with the first one, in 2003, after they were created in 1999. Their DVS(Digital Vinyl System) software enable mixing and scratching digital files with time coded vinyl or CD and any ASIO soundcard. Talk about a revolution…now you’ve got Final Scratch (with a DJ product review here), for instance, but Mixvibes is coming with their Cross pack, which can already take pride in having the smallest latency on the market.
The Cross pack from Mixvibes consists of the Cross DJ software, which is highly adapted to not only the needs of today’s working DJ, but also to implementing and controlling vinyl, which is done through the U46 MK2 audio interface. While both the Cross DJ software and the U46 MK2 audio interface can be bought separately, there’s no better and seamless vinyl control than with the Cross pack. Also, working DJs will get 2 time coded vinyls, 2 time coded CDs (for either their DJ turntables or CD players) and all the necessary cables as well.

So why would the Mixvibes Cross pack solution be better than others that allow you manual control over digital files? Well, Mixvibes understands that the paramount responsibility of a working DJ is to get the next track out there when he needs it, to keep the music going. For that, the Cross pack is built not only to offer a great sound quality, but to allow the digital DJ to quickly and easily retrieve whatever file he needs and play it, for whatever evironment. The Cross DJ software is highly tuned with iTunes and can integrate whole playlists, multiple tag editing, artwork browsing, missing media manager or multiple playlist visuals, all done inside a simple and easy to use interface.
The high end audio engine allows the Cross DJ software to offer working DJs every professional feature they’re used to, while the iTunes integration makes finding files a breeze, even if you’re just plugging in a new drive (instant recognition and file playing off of it). Here’s a short list of what you need to now to work the Cross DJ software and the U46 MK2 audio interface together smoothly(and a video link showing it in action):
- the DJ turntable or CD players are plugged into your U46 MK2 inputs, with no RIAA preamps needed, as the Cross DJ software does the correction automatically
- your soundcard output should go into channels 1 and 2 of your DJ mixer
- after that’s done, the control panel in Cross DJ software will help you do the rest
- minimum system requirements are 2 GHz processor and 512 MBRAM(although 1 GBRAM is recommended) for both Windows and Macs
- frequency response of the whole system is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz
- the U46 MK2 provides 48V phantom power for microphone input
- and there’s also a headphone output for monitoring
- finally, the Cross pack and its U46 MK2 audio interface is powered through the USB port, so installing the system is made easy for the working DJ
