Timbaland and The Beaterator

Try playing Timbaland with the soon to come Beaterator

I’m making it a habit of mine to keep all your music and DJ and gaming fans out there up to date with the latest in the field. If you’ve read my posts here you’ll know I like to keep a close eye on everything that moves in the gaming industry and related to the music and DJ scene (seeing as how I’m standing up to my gamer status and all…). I’ve covered DJ Hero and Scratch:The Ultimate DJ game that are ready to hit the market, and now there’s another one to look out for if you’ve got a PSP to play it on (that’s the only supported platform for the Beaterator).

If you’ve even bumped to the computer games industry in your life, then you might have heard about Rockstar Games. Maybe not as big as Activision in the same field, but Rockstar managed to come out with some pretty nifty games here and there, fun being the main word for them as far as I can remember. Which is a good thing, considering their next project for the PSP is a mobile beat making, producing kind of game in which they’re bringing Timbaland as the poster boy, I guess. Yeah, probably because he’s popular and all.

Timbaland showing off the new Beaterator, the portable music mixer and beat machine

Anyway, Timbaland prides himself with the title of producer and that’s the aim of the Beaterator: to bring gamers a little of what it feels like to produce (just beats in this case, since the game is called the Beaterator after all). So if you feel like you’ve got some talent putting drums together or would just like to have fun with music, beats and a Rockstar PSP game featuring Timbaland, then the Beaterator is definitely the thing for you. Officially, the Beaterator is kind of a portable music mixer which features a collection of rhythm games and challenge modes built in, to keep it entertaining and not lose appeal.

Unofficially, if they do it right, it would be like having your own pocket sized beat machine, capable of making beats that would make Timbaland himself proud. Anyway, with him being behind the Beaterator and with Rockstar Games as the mastermind, I can safely say that the game is going to be fun, if not anything else, definitely worth a subway trip or something (if you’re not ashamed to show off your beats to the public…or if the public can stand it…).

Here’s a quick breakdown of what you could do with the Beaterator pretty much anywhere, if you’ve got your PSP with you:

  • easy, powerful and innovative creation of beats
  • features original music
  • and a sounds kit with thousands of loops and sounds produced Rockstar Games and Timbaland exclusively
  • original audio samples that you can create for yourself using the Beaterator

If this looks promising to you, than you better gear up, because the Beaterator will hit the shelves pretty soon, on the 29th of September in the United States and on the 2nd of October in Europe. Also, check out the cool trailer above by Timbaland himself, dropping a little knowledge on the Beaterator. Looks fun to me.
