BCDJMIX – because sometimes a case is too much

I know the working DJ practically lives off his DJ equipment and that’s reason number 1 why every DJ should care first about the safety of his gear and then comes everything else. That’s quite right, but from time to time, carrying a case with you all over the place just seem to take the fun out of the walk, if not bundle you up with an extra 5 or 10 lbs of weight. That’s why I use a backpack for mostly everything I can fit in it and I would just as much prefer a shoulder-strapped bag, given it’s a decent quality. And when I’m talking Odyssey, it’s so far beyond decent I can’t even begin to explain it…it’s superb quality altogether, combined with the design and quality that only experience can bring, so DJs can also consider a nice bag for at least their smaller gear, the perfect example being the BCDJMIX.

Since the BCDJMIX is an Odyssey brand product, you can rest assured it’s on the market for good reason, dependability and convenience included and it this particular case, very special care for the working DJ’s 10"-12" mixer or large format CD-player. Now the BCDJMIX is only for the smaller working DJ equipment, but have no fear, because Odyssey has in all 10 different models of rack bags, out of which the BCDJMIX is the smallest, so you’re covered for any piece of your equipment.

We may be talking about rack bags and bags in the end, but that doesn’t mean any less protection for your gear, and the utmost care has went into manufacturing these bags to assure the supreme quality you may come to expect from Odyssey. The BCDJMIX and all the rack bag line, for that matter, is made with 800 denier ballistic nylon covering that’s practically made to take the challenges of transportation head-on. Anybody ever wearing a bag knows the zipper can be quite a nuisance and the last thing a working DJ would have go wrong, so BCDJMIX along with the other Odyssey rack bags, has chrome-plated zipper pulls that you can also lock together for that extra security and peace of mind.

The BCDJMIX, being the smaller of the pack and made to be carried on your shoulder, has a no-slip shoulder strap and rugged handles for easy carrying, and the sturdy foam construction guarantees maximum protection for your mixer, CD player or other types of DJ equipment. Also, many rack bags and the BCDJMIX also features outer zippered pockets that in the case of the BCDJMIX, is great for your power and audio cables, and on the bigger models, you can even fit microphone kits and other essentials right along your gear. As far as spacing is concerned, the BCDJMIX has interior dimensions of 13.3"W x 14.5"H x 4"D, but you can remove the inserts it comes with (two 1,25" width adjustment and two 0.5" depth adjustments)  for extra space.

On the larger models of  course, space becomes even less of a problem, as the BR516, for instance, is 5 unit spaces high (that’s 8.75 inches) and 16 inches deep, although unsurprisingly, it also weights 23 lbs by itself. At a glance, here are the main models and interior dimensions you can expect to find in Odyssey’s rack bags section:

  • BCDJMIX, with the above mentioned 13.3"W x 14.5"H x 4"D and removable inserts for some added carrying space
  • BR 308, that’s 3 space high and 8 inches deep
  • BR 312, also 3 space high but 12 inches deep
  • BR 316, 3 space high and 16 inches deep
  • BR 408, that jumps to 4 space height and 8 inches rackable depth
  • BR 412, 4 space high and 12 inches rackable depth
  • BR 416, that’s of course 4 space high and 16 inches rackable depth
  • BR 418W, featuring also extendable handles and wheels, is 4 space high and 18 inches rackable depth
  • BR 512 opens the way for the larger models, with 5 space height and 12 inches rackable depth
  • and finally, the BR 516 "mammoth", with 5 space height and 16 inches depth

With all this diversity, working DJs are bound to find a rack bag for the size that fits them and the quality that Odyssey has always provided in a more confortable and fashionable rack bag, that offers maximum quality and protection for whatever your equipment carrying needs are.
