The Electro Wars is a documentary about electronic music and its battles

With documentary films being on the rise, ever since Michael Moore started his well known series, pretty much everybody with an interest in something could start shooting, get some interviews and there you have your documentary. Soon and sure enough, it’s electronic music’s turn to have its origins checked, dissected and looked at by all, now with the coming of the documentary The Electro Wars. Although electro’s origin is a main point for the film, The Electro Wars goes on about a certain trend in electronic music, the blog house, which has grown along with electro house, as it came from it.

First, the term blog house is certainly fairly loose but it usually refers to different artists, be they DJs, remixers or whatever, who have just blown out by getting their music on countless music blogs. As blog house incorporates a large social part, it’s become more of a social movement in itself, rather than just stay with the flow and at the pace set by electronic music. In fact, so much so that One And Only Productions decided they should turn their cameras on the situation and proclame The Electro Wars (watch the second trailer through the link below).

On the positive side, there will certainly be some footage music fans and working DJs would like to see, and that’s only because some really big names will be on talking about electronic music and the scene. The Electro Wars will bring together a host of mostly American working DJs and producers who’ll put their opinion out there about the fast growing electro phenomenon. Some of the footage will probably also include clubbing nights filmed with handheld cameras, at a working DJ’s gig. But the names are really worth a look at, so The Electro Wars will feature, among others:

• Steve Aoki
• DJ A-Trak, about whom I wrote a bit here
• Pitbull
• Chromeo
• DJ Eclipse
• even the famed DJ Qbert

So if you’re a little curious about electronic music and its beginnings, or about its sub styles, like blog house, The Electro Wars documentary is certainly one to look out for. With such working DJs on it, the documentary will have something interesting, although I do agree there are yet other themes for a well made and informed documentary film.
