The ST 150 DJ turntable can pride itself with the world’s strongest torque motor
Stanton has all the experience it needs in creating successful DJ products, as from their creation in 1946, Stanton Magnetics has managed to achieve and hold onto their industry leader status, although brands such as Numark would disagree for sure. At any rate, Stanton is playing up there with the big boys of the DJ industry, and some of its innovation DJ products like the Final Scratch, of which you can read my DJ product review here, contributed to heightening their name.
So when Stanton sets out from scratch to create a new DJ turntable that’s up to the challenges of modern times, working DJs know they’ve got something to look forward to. And the ST 150 DJ turntable (which is basically the same as the STR8 150 model) really is a sight to behold, especially when it’s in action. The one feature all DJ turntables are coveting is probably the torque of their motor an the ST150 wins in this category, offering a full 4.5 kgsf/cm.
But that’s just one of ST 150’s features that will get working DJs spinning vinyl excited. The ST 150 DJ turntable is made to be used by the modern DJ, in the modern times, so it has a very durable construction that also minimizes feedback but mainly protects the ST 150 from the life of a mobile DJ. Everything about the ST 150 is steady, sturdy and can take a beating, and that’s very important in a DJ turntable. The 332 mm aluminum diecast platter and the S-shaped tone arm with suspension also get included in this category, as the working DJ is allowed to do his thing without worries on the ST 150.

Of course all those 4.5 kgsf/cm of torque help with the scratching, for all you turntablists out there, but tone arm is also skipping proof, minimizing the risk of failure right at the height of your scratching moment. The ST 150 will give working DJs and mobile DJs everything they need in a DJ turntable, but that’s all, as the ST 150 is stripped of all the non essentials to better handle the essentials.
And here’s what those essentials look like for the ST 150 DJ turntable, really a contender at the title of supreme turntable:
- 3 speeds to choose from, 33, 45 and 78 RPMs
- start and brake speed adjusments
- the ST 150 is also highly customizable to suit all working DJs, with adjustable feet, height adjustable tone arm and headshell of even removable target light
- quartz lock and motor off features
- the pitch control is respectable enough, at +/- 8, 25 and 50%
- reverse play
- an important key correction feature to make mixing a little easier
- and in the technical department, alongside the 4.5 kgsf/cm torque direct drive motor, the ST 150 has:
- a 230 mm long S shaped tone arm applying from 0 to 3 tracking force on the vinyl
- signal to noise ratio goes over 60 dB
- electronic brakes
- and the wow and flutter are lower than 0.1% WRMS at 33 RPM
Having already won multiple awards as a favorite DJ turntable, the ST 150 gives Stanton every reason to be proud of a work well done, and working DJs using it will have every reason to feel like they’ve found a real, solid DJ turntable in the ST 150. Nothing extra, but all you need to spin and do it right.
