Gone Too Far will air on MTV

DJ AM’s intervention show will still see the light of day, reportedly

Whatever your relation to electronic music and the DJ world, you’ll know who DJ AM was and also the fact that he died recently in his New York apartment. This mostly due to heavy advertising and lots of people talking about it, as Adam Goldstein was a friend of many in the D and music business, not to mention the Hollywood movie stars. He apparently died of a drug overdose, in a sort of weird comeback to crack after he was clean for more than 11 years. Not a story you want to tell your kids about drug addiction, but what DJ AM accomplished during his DJ career remains.

Anyway, in his role of celebrity and worldwide working DJ who managed to get rid of his drug addiction, MTV proposed a show called Gone Too Far, in which Adam Goldstein will act like a sort of intervention man who’ll help young kids and teenagers to get over their addictions. You can no doubt see the link here, as DJ AM was free of his addiction for a while now. It doesn’t hold as true when you know the DJ died from a drug overdose himself, but MTV doesn’t seem to be thrown off course.

Although no official announcements have been made, MTV is still keeping the Gone Too Far show in the list for their next programming schedule, and Adam Goldstein will be shown trying yo get teens to quit their drug problems. The Gone Too Far show will apparently keep its current name and talks are now taking place between MTV and DJ AM’s family for putting together the details. Adam Goldstein just finished filming the show days before his death and he was getting back home from the last episode shooting.

It could be seen as ironic that a show about getting rid of drug addiction will be aired with the main character someone who died because of the exact same problem, but MTV is reportedly hoping that people will see DJ AM’s message about drugs and not an attempt to just exploit his death. After all, drugs make countless victims and destroy lives (it could be said that Adam Goldstein is a good example, but he was actually a respected and well known DJ after he managed to rid of his addiction), so the message will probably be underlined.

I’m hoping that once teens see Gone Too Far, and know of what DJ AM went through to get away from them and then strangely returned for one last overdose will shout loud and clear that drugs are a constant danger and threat to your livelihood and that you can never let yourself go back to them, because if it happened to DJ AM, it can certainly happen to you, except you won’t be on the news.

Gone Too Far consists of 8 episodes that have yet to be scheduled to run on MTV in the near future, and although no official declaration has been made, MTV is reportedly keeping this one close for easy induction into their program once the time is right. Take its message to heart and don’t subside to a temptation that could well be your last.
