Mix over for DJ AM

Although a proven survivor, DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) met with an untimely death

No doubt by now you’ll have found out from one source or the other, even if you’re not a working DJ or in tune with the DJ world : the young but famous working DJ AM, by his real name Adam Goldstein was found dead in his apartment in New York. You might have even heard about this tragic event first here, on WorkingDJ.com, when Ria covered it pretty soon after it happened, so what I want to do now is show DJ AM’s last interview (at least with MTV news), which is pretty close to his point of no return.

Before posting the video with the interview, I’ll say that most celebrities in the music industry, Hollywood and pretty much anybody who ever knew or worked with Adam Goldstein was surprised in a tragic way by this news. DJ AM made a name for himself as a miraculous survivor, with death coming close to him twice in his lifetime. The first time had to do with his previous drug addiction, which he left behind some 11 years ago, but which made him really hit his bottom. From there on, he rebuilt his life and made it to where he was before he died.

At only 36 years of age, DJ AM avoided death a second time after a plane crash in which he was one of only two sole survivors. Talk about lucky… Now he didn’t manage to duck it though, as the police found him in his NY apartment, and everybody is in complete shock to the news. Even more so as he just finished working on his MTV show Gone Too Far, in which he finds and helps young people get off their addictions, as no one knows that field better than him. Adam Goldstein posted himself in one of his last tweets that the show was done filming, finally, and it was supposed to air October 5 : "Just wrapped filming GTF in CT. Back to Dusk in AC to DJ tonight, ".

DJ AM, Adam Goldstein last interview with MTV about the Gone Too Far show

For now, there’s no word on what will happen to the Gone Too Far show from MTV, as well as no official reason for his death, although authorities suspect a drug overdose. To be honest now, you can never rule out drug overdoses when somebody so famous dies, as history all too well shows. Among the many stars and celebs who are left speechless by DJ AM’s death are:

  • Ashton Kutcher, who wrote: “much love to my boy am
  • Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz writing, “R.I.P. . I’m sorry to loved ones. So unexpected.
  • Lindsay Lohan tweeted: “i can’t believe this, im in shock, why> whiy ? r.i.p adam
  • Khloe Kardashian added: “Tell your loved ones you love them every chance you get. You never know when it will be the last time. God bless DJ AM. I love you…
  • Kelly Osbourne remarked: “I just can’t believe Adam is gone, I dont wanna believe I’m in shock. he is one of the most genuine people I’ve met.
  • Sean “Diddy” Combs, John Mayer, and Alyssa Milano, among the rest

It’s all just another reason for us to see that life is actually fragile in each and every one of us and we shouldn’t take it for granted, as we do through much of our lives. DJ AM got this lesson 2 times in the past, and he made the best of his life until it ended. Make sure you do the same.
