Battle of the DJ Packages: Vestax vs Pioneer Part 2
So I’ve found myself in yet another two part post. I certainly harness the gift of gab. So let’s get back to the main topic, concluding it with a run down on what Pioneer’s DJ Box-1 has to offer working DJs.
The Pioneer DJ Box-1 include
- 2 CDJ-100S DJ CD players
- 1 DJM-300-S mixer
- Tips ‘n Tricks video
It’s a clever little unit that tops the mobility charts. You can really take it anywhere, which is great for the mobile DJ.
Pioneer DJ Box-1 Unit
2 CDS-100S DJ CD players: You may not be able to notice it, but the jog wheel on the CDS 100S DJ CD player can also be used as a turntable. The digital era is attempting to create the same analog feel and sound, without the unwelcome stress. I like that. Am I pro CD players? I’m still questioning whether they’re as good as vinyl…
Working DJs also get to play with the jog break function on the CDS-100S DJ CD player. This function has 3 different effects:
- Jet
- Zip
- Wah
My favorite is Wah! And it’s a favorite of mine for an entirely immature reason–not the same reasons many working DJs prefer this effect.
DJM-300-S Mixer: No Dj box is ever complete without a mixer. Unfortunately, some DJ manufacturers throw in mixers that aren’t too hot. Thankfully, Pioneer’s DJ Box-1 isn’t that kind of package. The DJM-300-S Mixer is only sporting 2 channels, but what can you expect when you’re paying so little for so much? This mixer offers navigating room (so your hands won’t feel awkward) and sturdy little knobs that won’t fall off when conditioners get rough.
Proving to be a remarkable mixer, the DJM-300-S offers a ton of valuable features. I’ll list a few of them, giving you guys a little taste, but not a whole mouthfull. If you want to explore the astounding depth of the DJM-300-S mixer, go get the Pioneer DJ Box 1. Or at least borrow it from someone.
Features:
- 3-brand EQ for each channel
- Fader start play
- Fader back cue play
- Split headphone monitor
Pioneer is more generous than I am about showing off all the contents feature, so head over to their web site for a quick review of what each instrument in the Pioneer DJ Box-1 offers.
Overall, which DJ package won? The Vestax package has a lot to bring to the table. The quality of each "instrument" in the PMC-05PRO3 Pack can’t be beat with such an affordable price. Then again, the Pioneer DJ Box-1 is what every digital DJ should start their career with. Both pro and beginner DJs can bask in the glory of the Pioneer DJ Box-1 features. Not to mention it’s a package that caters to both digitaland old-fashioned DJs. With digital style and convenience, plus analog sound and feel, everyone leaves a winner.
Man. This a tough decision. So I guess the best DJ package here is definitely going to be the……
