Vestax VCI-300

Any DJ who has messed with Serato needs to check out the Vestax VCI-300, a new portable hardware device designed by Vestax and Serato specifically for the new Serato Itch software. This is the perfect controller for a mobile DJ because of its size and weight, and the advanced features that it offers.  The VCI-300 is its own sound card and connects to the computer via USB.  It can be connected to any sound system through its RCA or Quarter Inch outputs, making it easy to set up anywhere.  If you are tired of carrying heavy turntables or CD players, it’s time to make the switch to something more portable.  

 

The VCI-300 is an exceptional upgrade from the VCI-100.  The two platters can now be easily adjusted to loosen or tighten depending on personal preference and what style one is trying to achieve.  This is great for versatile scratching techniques.  The VCI-300 has added features such as:

• multiple cue points for each channel
• special effects
• key lock
• auto tempo.

This is a great console for full equalization capabilities in highs, mids, and lows when mixing tracks.  Perhaps the best feature added to the VCI-300 is the [Emergency Thru Switch], which enables the DJ to play music using CD players or an MP3 player without using the computer.  This feature is necessary for emergency situations where the computer may freeze, because it allows the music to continue on without a skip.

Serato Itch is a software that can only be used when purchasing hardware for it, and can not be sold seperately.  The other hardware designed for Serato Itch is the Numark NS7  There are no controls on the software screen, making it a clean, simple software to use with the VCI-300 and no redundancy.  The software screen neatly presents the library of music, the song info, and the wave files.  What is great about ITCH is that the eye appealing  waves move from right to the left on the screen, unlike the original Serato which moves the waves from the bottom to the top of the screen. 

The VCI-300 is a great way to become the mobile DJ you’ve always wanted to be, without carrying heavy decks and crates.
